How to train death squads and quash revolutions

"How to covertly train paramilitaries, censor the press, ban unions, employ terrorists, conduct warrantless searches, suspend habeas corpus, conceal breaches of the Geneva Convention and make the population love it"

This is a manual you need to download! It is a little dated, I am sure, but still very useful! It is written by and for our soldiers, so they know how to oppress and suppress those they call enemies!

Wikileaks has released a sensitive 219 page US military counterinsurgency manual. The manual, Foreign Internal Defense Tactics Techniques and Procedures for Special Forces (1994, 2004), may be critically described as "what we learned about running death squads and propping up corrupt government in Latin America and how to apply it to other places". Its contents are both history defining for Latin America and, given the continued role of US Special Forces in the suppression of insurgencies, including in Iraq and Afghanistan, history making.

The leaked manual, which has been verified with military sources, is the official US Special Forces doctrine for Foreign Internal Defense or FID.

FID operations are designed to prop up "friendly" governments facing popular revolution or guerilla insurgency. FID interventions are often covert or quasi-covert due to the unpopular nature of the governments being supported ("In formulating a realistic policy for the use of advisors, the commander must carefully gauge the psychological climate of the HN [Host Nation] and the United States.")

The manual directly advocates training paramilitaries, pervasive surveillance, censorship, press control and restrictions on labor unions & political parties. It directly advocates warrantless searches, detainment without charge and (under varying circumstances) the suspension of habeas corpus. It directly advocates employing terrorists or prosecuting individuals for terrorism who are not terrorists, running false flag operations and concealing human rights abuses from journalists. And it repeatedly advocates the use of subterfuge and "psychological operations" (propaganda) to make these and other "population & resource control" measures more palatable.

The content has been particularly informed by the long United States involvement in El Salvador.

In 2005 a number of credible media reports suggested the Pentagon was intensely debating "the Salvador option" for Iraq.[1]. According to the New York Times Magazine:

The template for Iraq today is not Vietnam, with which it has often been compared, but El Salvador, where a right-wing government backed by the United States fought a leftist insurgency in a 12-year war beginning in 1980. The cost was high — more than 70,000 people were killed, most of them civilians, in a country with a population of just six million. Most of the killing and torturing was done by the army and the right-wing death squads affiliated with it. According to an Amnesty International report in 2001, violations committed by the army and associated groups included ‘‘extrajudicial executions, other unlawful killings, ‘disappearances’ and torture. . . . Whole villages were targeted by the armed forces and their inhabitants massacred.’’ As part of President Reagan’s policy of supporting anti-Communist forces, hundreds of millions of dollars in United States aid was funneled to the Salvadoran Army, and a team of 55 Special Forces advisers, led for several years by Jim Steele, trained front-line battalions that were accused of significant human rights abuses.

The same article states James Steele and many other former Central American Special Forces "military advisors" have now been appointed at a high level to Iraq.

In 1993 a United Nations truth commission on El Salvador, which examined 22,000 atrocities that occurred during the twelve-year civil war, attributed 85 percent of the abuses to the US-backed El Salvador military and its paramilitary death squads.

It is worth noting what the US Ambassador to El Salvador, Robert E. White (now the president for the Center for International Policy) had to say as early as 1980, in State Department documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act:

The major, immediate threat to the existence of this government is the right-wing violence. In the city of San Salvador, the hired thugs of the extreme right, some of them well-trained Cuban and Nicaraguan terrorists, kill moderate left leaders and blow up government buildings. In the countryside, elements of the security forces torture and kill the campesinos, shoot up their houses and burn their crops. At least two hundred refugees from the countryside arrive daily in the capital city. This campaign of terror is radicalizing the rural areas just as surely as Somoza's National Guard did in Nicaragua. Unfortunately, the command structure of the army and the security forces either tolerates or encourages this activity. These senior officers believe or pretend to believe that they are eliminating the guerillas.[2]

Selected extracts follow. Note that the manual is 219 pages long and contains substantial material throughout. These extracts should merely be considered representative. Emphasis has been added for further selectivity. The full manual can be found at US Special Forces counterinsurgency manual FM 31-20-3.

John has a long mustache, I repeat John has a long mustache!

"John has a long Mustache" [a coded message to the Resistance, spoken in French] This phrase amongst others let the French Resistance know that the D-day invasion had began and be ready to fight!
Well, the attack on the Second Amendment has started again and is more vicious than every! They "Congress and Senate" are looking at banning all Semi-automatic "assault weapons"!

The Government knows we are here, but are still trying to ignore us a small fringe movement! Well, here is our chance to show them some of our POWER! Lets organize and go to this march in Washington D.C. May we not only show our power to the government, but to the other citizens out there, who not yet been bold enough to STAND UP TO THEM!
You make the difference,
You are responsible for your loss of liberties, You are the only one who can take liberties back, You are the United States of America- Remember "We The People" give the authority and power to the government and YOU CAN TAKE IT AWAY!

Destruction of the Republic! THE DEMISE OF THE AMERICAN IDENTITY

This article must be read, understood and shared! They are attacking the Republic for which we Stand. I took an Oath to protect the Constitution from all Enemies, Foreign and Domestic!

THE DEMISE OF THE AMERICAN IDENTITY

By CJ Graham
June 15, 2008

NewsWithViews

From this moment forward, all Citizens of the United States of America must insist we be addressed in this very precise manner by media, academia and our politicians. Our treasured identity as Americans has been wrenched from us and diluted until it no longer holds the same significance. It is our responsibility to restore our precious identity once more.

The purpose of this article is to inform the Citizens of the United States of America that our sovereignty is in peril. Not everyone believes in the value or importance of our constitution. Some are in positions of authority and power and can and will do great harm to our nation if left unchecked.

The following statements are absolutely true. I have sourced my writing so that you can verify it for yourself. Once you read and explore the links, you will better understand the perilous circumstances our nation faces today.

Here is the simple truth:

All Peoples of the Western Hemisphere are now being called Americans by the elite power structure. In treaties, documents, declarations, speeches, media reports, government, academia, and non-governmental organizations.

All nations of the Hemisphere are called STATES in the Americas. The OAS or Organization of American States has a membership of 35 countries. The United States of America is a member of the OAS. In decisions of policy making the United States is one vote of 35. In most cases a vote of two-thirds of the members is all that is needed to move a declaration forward. The OAS is an agency of the United Nations and is authorized to act by the Summit of the Americas institution.

While people are talking about a North American Union conspiracy, they are missing the fact that a fully integrated hemisphere much like the European Union has already been formed. Treaties have been signed. Membership has been established. If you read nothing else, go down to the links at the bottom of this article and explore them. You will see that all that I have written will be confirmed there.

As a faithful Citizen of the United States of America and a USAF Veteran, I have lived my life with the absolute knowledge that as Americans we have a system of government, brilliantly conceived by our Founders, and guaranteed by our Constitution. With this simple truth the destiny of our country and her Citizens are protected.

By this truth we have been raised and have raised our children. It is an ideal young men and women for generations have fought and died to protect. In a world of perpetual danger, a world so often without reason or consistency, this knowledge is our rock. Our constitution, our culture and our identity is our way of life.

We, as Americans embrace our unique identity as a melting pot, assimilating the many into the one - a nation indivisible. In this context I set forth in search of answers to questions I had not been able to reconcile about the state of our domestic affairs today. What I have come to understand has shattered my sense of stability, shaken my respect for many American legislators, and destroyed belief I had in their integrity and honor in the protection of our national sovereignty. As a faithful American, I am infuriated!

If you have tried to speak with your Representative lately, you may have come away convinced your concerns have not been seriously considered. The politicos, who once courted your vote, and made the pretense of caring about you, now seem too preoccupied by other obligations to feign interest in your frustrations. With unprecedented arrogance, Citizens of the United States of America are being shown the door and given a deaf ear. It would seem our legislators have bigger fish to fry than to worry about the concern of the American Citizen.

They have. Much bigger fish!

A constant outcry can be heard from citizens who seem more baffled and frustrated daily by the lack of simple common sense measures that could be taken so easily to secure our country, prosperity and citizens. We know what needs to be done and we have made ourselves very clear time and again. And, yet nothing changes for the better. Things consistently change for the worse. One might even speculate the worsening condition of the American way of life is intentional. But, why would that be desirable and who benefits?

If you correctly surmise your best interests are no longer being served by many in government sworn to protect and your well being is no longer their first priority, it is because the Citizen of the United States of America and the United States Constitution are no longer a real factor in the grand scheme of things.

With a heavy heart and an outraged spirit I pass on to you information I have discovered, substantiating all I am about to share with you. I believe every Citizen of the United States of America has a right to know the truth.

Time is of the essence. While we were dutifully serving our country in her defense, educating ourselves to prosper, raising our young ones to say the Pledge of Allegiance with pride and certainty, ‘Grand Schemers’ have been formulating the foundation for treachery against the U.S.A. In the ‘Grand Scheme’, our constitution is outdated, outmoded, and an unnecessary hindrance.

There is a reason. There is an expected outcome. And it is not good.

From the OAS website:

All 35 independent countries of the Americas have ratified the OAS Charter and belong to the Organization. Cuba remains a member, but its government has been excluded from participation in the OAS since 1962.

Draft Social Charter of the Americas:

Preamble (excerpt)

Bearing in mind that the United Nations Millennium Development Goals commit us to making our best efforts to attain the poverty reduction targets set for 2015;

Mindful that the Charter of the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Democratic Charter, the Protocol of San Salvador, the Declaration of Margarita, and the Declaration of Nuevo León are the principal documents in which our hemispheric forum has set forth its intention to eradicate poverty, equity, and social exclusion in the region;

There is a reason for the difficulties facing our country today. Our borders have been left open and vulnerable, unprecedented during a time of war. So called representatives blather on relentlessly, accomplishing little, a circus of the absurd for our distraction while aided and abetted by a complicit media, greedy corporations and agenda driven educators.

From the Charter of the OAS:

Confident that the true significance of American solidarity and good neighborliness can only mean the consolidation on this continent, The Organization of American States, in order to put into practice the principles on which it is founded and to fulfill its regional obligations under the Charter of the United Nations.

There is a reason for our economic meltdown and the resultant deterioration of our middle class. Our jobs are being exported to every third world country on the planet enriching them, draining our treasure and dissolving our manufacturing capabilities at an astounding and terrifying rate. We are accepting dangerous and substandard goods from third world economies breaking the back of U.S. corporations who cannot compete with unfair trading policies and practices. OAS trading agreements favor poorer nations. This practice is a redistribution of wealth and it is very intentional.

From the Charter of the OAS:

Article 34

The Member States agree that equality of opportunity, the elimination of extreme poverty, equitable distribution of wealth and income and the full participation of their peoples in decisions relating to their own development are, among others, basic objectives of integral development. To achieve them, they likewise agree to devote their utmost efforts to accomplishing the following basic goals:

Equitable distribution of national income;

Article 40

The Member States reaffirm the principle that when the more developed countries grant concessions in international trade agreements that lower or eliminate tariffs or other barriers to foreign trade so that they benefit the less¬developed countries, they should not expect reciprocal concessions from those countries that are incompatible with their econimic development, financial and trade needs.

There is a reason Citizens of the United States of America are treated with a heavy hand under our rule of law, while encroachers, marauders, and infiltrators pour over our borders, from unknown destinations, at an alarming rate. Americans, burdened with intrusive laws that strain the limits of sovereignty, are at the same time being forced to dodge drunken, unlicensed, unregistered, illegal aliens on our roadways, fight for jobs at depressed wages and spend fortunes trying to restore credit when personal identity has been stolen.

There is a reason every effort is being made to give voting rights to foreign nationals. An assortment of organizations with agendas will work to break the spine of a small town like Hazelton Pa. with a league of lawyers and unlimited funds. Safe Havens are being established in our towns and cities giving privileges and tax dollars to unidentified, sometimes dangerous unknown foreign nationals. Illegal aliens feel entitled to protest in our nation, flying the flags of their homelands above our up-ended American Flag in a statement of dominance. Americans are dying on American soil, every day at the hands of illegal aliens and yet we are unrepresented in our grief, our confusion and our rage.

From the Social Charter of the Americas

All Cultures are, legally and socially, of equal importance. No people may be renamed, relocated, or assimilated into another culture without such initiatives emanating from collective decisions taken within the communities themselves in the free exercise of their civil and political rights, without prejudice to all human rights enshrined in national and international laws.

From the Charter of the OAS

The Member States recognize that, in order to facilitate the process of Latin American regional integration, it is necessary to harmonize the social legislation of the developing countries.

There is a reason we are giving billions in foreign aid to impoverished countries while American families struggle to hold onto our homes and parents struggle to keep jobs to preserve any potential for a secure future for their children.

From the Charter of the OAS

The Member States agree that technical and financial cooperation that seeks to promote regional economic integration should be based on the principle of harmonious, balanced, and efficient development, with particular attention to the relatively lass-developed countries

There is a reason dangerous Mexican trucks are on our roads despite the best efforts of a few in our Congress to stop them. Despite the outcry of truckers already burdened by excessive gas prices and despite the cries of citizens, afraid for their safety on the roads.

There is a reason our lands are being confiscated by eminent domain for the building of infrastructure, benefiting everyone but the American citizen. Foreign entities without a stake in the well being of Americans are becoming enriched while we are being ripped from our homes in a heart wrenching, ruthless manner

From the Charter of the OAS

Article 42

The Member States recognize that integration of the developing countries of the Hemisphere is one of the objectives of the inter-American system and, therefore, shall orient their efforts and take the necessary measures to accelerate the integration process, with a view to establishing a Latin American common market in the shortest possible time.

There is a reason words like ‘xenophobia’, ‘racist’ and ‘intolerance’ are thrown around with such ease, marking and silencing the accused with an overused hate label. There is a reason groups remaining unassimilated, balkanize our fracturing nation by gathering in large numbers to lobby our American lawmakers as Americans struggle to protect our culture never fully understanding the forces gathering against us. Anyone concerned with national sovereignty and unsecured borders is an obstacle to the integration of the hemisphere and is contrary to the thinking of the integration minded.

From the Charter of the OAS

The spiritual unity of the continent is based on respect for the cultural values of the American countries and requires their close cooperation for the high purpose of civilization;

There is a reason our hospitals are closing from exhausted finances after being forced to care for those who came without invitation and stay without welcome. Our schools are overcrowded and falling apart and our children have no understanding of the basic principles of our Constitution and the history of America.

Education has become so agenda driven, dangerous, and devoid of content that children drop out in utter hopelessness and desperation. The OAS plan is for a Universal Health Care plan and a Universal Educational Program.

From the Social Charter of the OAS

All peoples are entitled to health. The states undertake to provide their citizens with universal and comprehensive primary health care, at no cost.

Education shall be rooted in the principles of universality, pluralism, freedom, equity, relevance, quality, justice, and training for employment and for life.

From the Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man

Right to education.

Article XII. Every person has the right to an education, which should be based on the principles of liberty, morality and human solidarity. For part two click below.

Citizens of the United States of America, My brothers and sisters:

Reasons do exist for the intended demise of our sovereign nation. The answer for this is the unanticipated pride and patriotism of the Citizen of the United States of America.

Bringing an end to the era of silence and complacency, Americans can and must keep our country strong and sovereign under the Constitution of the United States as intended. We must gather the strength of the Founding Fathers to take back what rightfully belongs to every citizen.

While we have been betrayed by some in our government, it is important to note that there are also those who have fought against this tide of national destruction. They have been honest and faithful in their service but their voices have often been silenced and ridiculed. They must have our support. The fact that we have not yet lost our nation is a testimony to their efforts.

We must make very clear to those in government, in no uncertain terms, if they do not represent and, at all times, work for the good of the Citizen of the United States of America then we will identify them without exception and remove them from office.

Globalists have forgotten the pride and deeply patriotic spirit of the Citizen of the United States of America when united in resolve. So sure are they of our people’s weakness and complacency they have not anticipated our strength and they have mistaken our silence for acceptance and that is to their detriment.

We must reassert our Authority as Citizens of the United States of America by insisting on input and demanding oversight. Accountability and vigilance must be restored.

The next time you listen to a politician, the media, big business or academia, Remember the facts listed below and listen in this context. You will hear a very different message.

All Peoples of the Western Hemisphere are now being called Americans.

All nations of the Hemisphere are called STATES in the Americas. The distinction of ‘Nation States’ is not made.

The United States of America is ONE state of thirty-five in the Organization of American States.

Politicians, big business, media, academia and agenda driven organizations are not speaking exclusively to the Citizens of the United States of America, or our Nation. They are speaking to the peoples of the Americas in the whole of the Western Hemisphere.

They know when they say Americans and America that we assume that they mean the Citizens of the United States of America and the Nation of the United States of America but we are incorrect in that assumption and they have done nothing to correct this misunderstanding for their own purposes.

When you have seen the Legislation, Plans of Actions, Declarations and Treaties, you will see the foundations that they are laying to combine us into a conglomerate of homogenized peoples with allegiance only to their Grand Scheme…that of a single democratic hemispheric unit. Do Not Talk To The Police! Ever!!

Yes, you read the title correct! Listen to this man and learn! What he has to say is very disturbing. He says, They can Lie to you and will Lie to you. They record everything on audio and video. Never believe "Its Off The Record", they will "Interview" interrogate and try to trick you into a confession. The tapes are transposed and destroyed, still admissible to court, but not verifiable.
And, don't you Patriots say "They won't arrest me, I'm not a criminal", look up the Patriot Acts I and II, Detainee "H.R. 6166" Treatment. Act of 2005 and several more. in their minds you are a criminal. So learn and prepare, just in case it happens!
The deck is stacked against you going in and they know it! Thats how they want it to be, so they always get their man.

Buy and read a copy of The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and you will understand the United States of America has become a Police state and where is will go! The path will be the same as the USSR, Germany and several others before. That is why our police do these things, you saw in the video.
A friend wrote this to me, when they sent the article below.
"This is a good indication of the state of our nation. This is way more than just a few years ago when it was at 2.2 million. This happened when we privatized prisons. This also happened when we criminalize civil offenses such as Taxes and reporting and other so called CRIMES AGAINST THE STATE. Many in prison have done nothing to harm any one but the government. Many are also 2nd amendment gun officiants that violated laws passed that were unconstitutional. This reflects on us as a society and remember this happened in the early stages of NAZISM in Germany. Its how they got rid of the independent thinkers and dissidents. Also remember this will be going up because we have new legislation coming to the fore that makes "thoughts" now a crime punishable by imprisonment. AND YOU ALL WANT TO VOTE FOR THE SAME PARTIES THAT DID THIS TO US???? NOT IN THIS LIFE TIME."

New Criminal Record: 7.2 Million
Nation's Justice System Strains to Keep Pace With Convictions

By Darryl Fears
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, June 12, 2008; A09

The number of people under supervision in the nation's criminal justice system rose to 7.2 million in 2006, the highest ever, costing states tens of billions of dollars to house and monitor offenders as they go in and out of jails and prisons.

According to a recently released report released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than 2 million offenders were either in jail or prison in 2006, the most recent year studied in an annual survey. Another 4.2 million were on probation, and nearly 800,000 were on parole.

The cost to taxpayers, about $45 billion, is causing states such as California to reconsider harsh criminal penalties. In an attempt to relieve overcrowding, California is now exporting some of its 170,000 inmates to privately run corrections facilities as far away as Tennessee.

"There are a number of states that have talked about an early release of prisoners deemed non-threatening," said Rebecca Blank, a senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution, a centrist think tank. "The problem just keeps getting bigger and bigger. You're paying a lot of money here. You have to ask if some of these high mandatory minimum sentences make sense."

The bureau's report comes on the heels of a Pew Center on the States report showing 1 percent of U.S. adults behind bars, a historic high. The United States has the largest number of people behind bars in the world, according to the Pew report.

Black men, about one in 15, were most affected, and Hispanics, one in 35, were well represented among offenders. The number of women in prison "rose faster in 2006 than over the previous five years," mostly in Hawaii, North Dakota, Wyoming and Oklahoma, the Bureau of Justice Statistics report said.

In 1980, about the time that tough sentencing laws, particularly for drug offenses, began to be passed by federal and state legislators, 1.8 million people were in the system and $11 billion was spent on corrections.

"It's really like a runaway train," said Ryan King, policy analyst for the liberal Sentencing Project. "Nobody's taking a step back and asking where all these billions of dollars are going." With so much overcrowding, King said, states "need billions of dollars to build enough beds to catch up to where they need to be."

Defenders of the system argue, however, that the rise in the prison population means that more dangerous criminals have been taken off the streets.

"If you look at the fact that these are people who are committing a crime, creating a danger to the public, you can't look at it as wrong," said Scott Thorpe, chief executive of the California District Attorneys Association. "What is the appropriate number of people to be incarcerated to ensure public safety? I don't know if you can answer that."

State contracts with private prisons to house offenders grew by 6 percent, or about 6,000 inmates, the report said. Nearly 114,000 state and federal prisoners were in private institutions in 2006.

Tim Lynch, director of the criminal justice project for the libertarian Cato Institute, called the numbers "scandalous" and said states have resorted to "tinkering" to solve prison overcrowding.

"I think these numbers demonstrate that we've lost our way," Lynch said. "We've lost our way when our laws require such a massive scale of incarceration."

Lynch and others said the drug war is destroying American inner cities almost as much as the drug trade. "When you lock up a bank robber, a child molester or a mugger, you're removing a career offender from the street.

"When you lock up a drug dealer, he is immediately replaced," Lynch said. "We tried this with alcohol during Prohibition and it didn't work. We're not reaching the same conclusion with the drug war. It's slowly sinking in, but it will take politicians some

ARMED REVOLUTION POSSIBLE AND NOT SO DIFFICULT

To quote Ron Paul "I wrote in my new book The Revolution: A Manifesto, “the last line of defense in support of freedom and the Constitution consists of the people themselves. If the people want to be free, if they want to lift themselves out from underneath a state apparatus that threatens their liberties, squanders their resources on needless wars, destroys the value of their dollar, and spews forth endless propaganda about how indispensable it is and how lost we would all be without it, there is no force that can stop them.”
I ask a question, are you part of the problem or part of the CURE? Find others who are holding an EMBER of Liberties fire in their heart and lead them here. Here we can encourage others, work to open the eyes of the hopeless.

ARMED REVOLUTION POSSIBLE AND NOT SO DIFFICULT
By Bill Bridgewater

The only "newsies" that I have ever met that I didn't believe wasted oxygen by breathing were Dickey Chappell and Bernie Fall, both of whom were killed in Viet Nam because they believed that you couldn't report battles in the field from a bar in Saigon.

It is not easy to admit that a newsie stopped me cold the other day in the middle of one of their silly interviews. He had asked me to enumerate the reasons that I believed to be valid to support the private ownership of firearms.

We did not disagree over personal protection; he even admitted that hunting is legal in every state. But, when I stated that I believed that the founding fathers intended that we be armed against the possibility of our own central government overstepping its bounds, he quite bluntly asked me if I thought that an armed American citizenry had a snowball's chance in hell in an uprising against our own federal government.

Now, when was the last time you put some really serious thought into that proposition? Not counting the slaughter of the American Indians, we have not seen a serious effort to pit Americans against Americans since the end of the War Between the States that ended 130 years ago.

Is there even a shred of possibility that an armed citizenry could succeed against the strongest military power on Earth today?

Perhaps we should review the years 1960-1975 again. The United States blindly stuck its oar in the muddied waters of Viet Nam very shortly after the French got their heads handed to them on a platter and were invited not to be a colonial power in Viet Nam any more.

Finally, we found ourselves in the position of guaranteeing the survival of an independent South Viet Nam when the Northern part of the country made it clear that they were interested in reuniting the country under their particular brand of socialism.

For a decade and a half, we changed the leadership of South Viet Nam quite regularly; increased the pressure on the Johnson thumbscrews; bombed, quit, bombed, quit, ad infinitum; quantified the war; and finally turned it into an electronic war. At home we kept telling the citizens that we were just about to win decisively and elected another president to drive crazy with this goofy little war.

Finally the president declared that all was over and the troops could come home.

But they did not return home in triumph with the bugles blaring. They came home with their tails between their legs just like every other defeated army in the history of the world. And the reason that they did so, my friends, was that the world's most powerful nation got its backside severely whipped by a small, backward, agrarian nation who started the war against us with an assortment of ancient bolt-action rifles, no lines of support, no manufacturing base, and no infrastructure that the country absolutely depended upon.

It is not a joke that they made sandals from cut-up truck tires - it's the truth. They fought the only kind of war they could hope to fight and win successfully - a guerrilla war.

They had two good models: the American colonies against the British in our war for independence, and the American Indian wars, where the value of slash-and-run against a superior foe was escalated to a fine art by the world's finest light cavalry.

Twice the North Vietnamese allowed themselves to be suckered into main force set-piece battles, and they got cut into ribbons for doing it. Otherwise, they stuck to General Giap's plan of guerrilla warfare to the finish.

The North finally *did* get to mass their troops and tanks during their final sweep to victory into Saigon.

Why did this happen? Why did the world's most powerful nation get its teeth kicked in and sent home in disgrace? Because we forgot our very own origins! We forgot that we were the ones who hid behind logs, berms, and bushes and shot British troops and their mercenaries as *targets of opportunity* while denying our opponents a target of any kind.

We used the skills of the mountain and plains Indians against an Army that was trained in only one form of combat. We refused to engage in the British methods of combat until we had superior forces and the odds were highly in our favor.

General Vo Nuyen Giap did exactly the same thing against us in the 1960s and 1970s while we used our superior firepower and technology to create ten million deaf monkeys and water buffalo. We defoliated tens of thousands of acres of jungle forest to prove that Giap's troops weren't there. We constructed every kind of trap known to mankind to capture and destroy divisions of enemy troops where there weren't any.

We very patiently fought a European theater-type of warfare against a steadfast foe who fought a completely different kind of war that simply made our complex weapons systems useless. By inflexibly insisting on doing it our way, we lost the whole shooting match to a man who played it his way and won.

Meanwhile, on the exact opposite side of the globe, another shooting match was gearing up that pitted the second most powerful nation in the world against an enemy whose armament consisted of ancient bolt-action rifles, who had no lines of support, no manufacturing base and no infrastructure that the nation depended upon.

Though the Russians were determined that *they* would not be sent home with their tails between their legs, the Afghans were paying particular attention to those tactics that had worked so well for General Giap against the American forces. Even with the advantage of being able to totally ignore world opinion and to essentially ignore the opinions of its own citizens, Russia followed us down the long winding trail to disgrace by doing exactly what we had done in Viet Nam.

High-ranking politicians (some of them in uniform), with absolutely no idea what was going on in the day-to-day conduct of both wars, made stupid decisions and then stuck by them despite advice to the contrary from both American and Russian on-scene commanders.

The Russian methods of combat - mass maneuver and firepower - that were developed against Napoleon and Hitler proved no more successful than our methods against an aggressively waged guerrilla war.

Both major enemies failed to fight the enemy that they faced. Both, in fact, fought an historical enemy who was not present on the field of battle. Both of these superior armies truly believed that superior strength and technical abilities would win the day. Both major armies believed that time was on their side and was working against their foe. Both were totally wrong because they underestimated the growing dislike of the supposedly neutral or "friendly" indigenous forces whose cities, villages, towns and homes were being destroyed by the ongoing flow of large-scale battles by the two major armies.

Whatever the levels of dispute between the Vietnamese, the American forces eventually became the common enemy simply because of the massive damage they were doing in behalf of the south. Exactly the same thing transpired in Afghanistan. The Russians became the common enemy and went home in defeat.

Our armed forces used everything in our weapons inventory in our effort to win except nuclear devices. So did the Russians. They even used some chemical weapons that we didn't try.

What does all this have to do with the question the newsy asked me? Everything.

A revolution could be waged against the current American government far easier than you might imagine without careful examination. Consider:

* The sheer numbers of firearms of all kinds in the hands of the American public would have made the American commanders in Viet Nam quake in their boots. We're not talking junk equipment here, either. The average deer hunter with a .270 or .308 could give a platoon of regular troops more grief than they want. There was a special on the tube recently about military armaments on sale in the black market (including Stingers).

* The population base from which revolutionaries could be recruited is *massive* - 250 million.

* There are literally millions of well-trained men who served as officers and NCOs who learned face-to-face how guerrilla warfare works. They haven't forgotten it, either.

* There are millions of young men out there with military training and experience with weapons of every conceivable kind, who would make top-quality guerrilla troops.

* Every one of the 100 counties in the state of North Carolina could field at least one full company that would be formidable in capability. If one assumes that North Carolina is no more capable than other states, that could amount to 180 divisions. These potential rebel troops would be fast-moving light infantry, with the capability of melting into the general population when necessary.

American military leaders would be in the position of having an inventory of high-tech weapons that they would be dependent upon your son or nephew to use against you. There would be no enemy states in which you could say that any weapon could be used against the rebels. They would be from each and every state and major city.

By the same token, there would be no sanctuary for the federal troops anywhere in the land. No matter where stationed, they would be subject to attack and harassment. The infrastructure on which the federal government depends would be rather easily disrupted by those who live there. Airfields and major lines of communications could be shut down and kept down for days at a time. Disruption of supplies to major bases and to centers of government would be simple. You don't have to cut them off, just keep them hungry.

The federal government would be denied the use of all their major weaponry because they would still "own" the cities and villages. How do you justify bombing your own city just because there is a rebel company in it? One bombing would be the biggest recruiting drive ever for the rebel forces.

Now just how powerful do those 12 Army divisions and those three Marine divisions really look to you? Just how scary is the Air Force against America? What will the Navy do, shell all coastal cities? I don't think so.

One of these days a truly charismatic individual is going to walk out of the heartland of America and point out that the Declaration of Independence has never been repealed and that it *requires* all citizens to rise up against an oppressive government. With the current attitude toward our government and the people who populate it, a massive groundswell of support for throwing the current crop to the dogs and starting over again might not be so difficult.

As for the *ability* of the American citizens to successfully wage a guerrilla war on their own government, the likes of which this world has never seen nor contemplated before, I am absolutely convinced that it could be done, and a lot more swiftly than many might believe possible. How many highly-capable long-range snipers can your county put together?

Greivances and the Declaration of Independance

Listed below are some of the grievances our Founding Fathers had with the government of England, do any of these sound familiar to you?

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

Any of these sound familiar?
